On April 11th, State Grid Corporation of China released the "State Grid Corporation of China Service New Energy Development Report (2019)" (hereinafter referred to as the "Development Report"), which showed that as of the end of 2018, China's cumulative installed capacity of new energy power generation reached 360 million kilowatts, a year-on-year increase of 22%, accounting for 19% of the total installed capacity in the country, surpassing hydropower for the first time; The newly added installed capacity of new energy power generation is 66.22 million kilowatts, accounting for 54% of the total newly added installed capacity of national power sources. Among them, the cumulative installed capacity of new energy power generation in the State Grid operating zone is 298.96 million kilowatts, a year-on-year increase of 23%, accounting for 83% of the cumulative installed capacity of new energy power generation in the country; The newly added installed capacity of new energy power generation is 55 million kilowatts, accounting for 83% of the country.
Among them, in 2018, China added 21.01 million kilowatts of wind power installed capacity, a year-on-year increase of 31%; As of the end of 2018, the cumulative installed capacity of wind power was 184.26 million kilowatts, a year-on-year increase of 13%, accounting for 9.7% of the total installed capacity of national power sources. Among them, the newly added installed capacity of wind power in the State Grid operating zone was 17.22 million kilowatts, accounting for 82% of the national total, and the cumulative installed capacity of wind power was 146.12 million kilowatts, accounting for 79% of the national total installed capacity of wind power.
In 2018, China's new installed capacity for solar power generation was 45.21 million kilowatts, accounting for 68% of the total new energy capacity; As of the end of 2018, the cumulative installed capacity of solar power generation was 174.63 million kilowatts, a year-on-year increase of 35%, accounting for 9.2% of the total installed capacity of power sources. Among them, the newly added installed capacity of solar power generation in the State Grid operating zone was 37.77 million kilowatts, accounting for 84% of the national total, and the cumulative installed capacity of solar power generation was 152.83 million kilowatts, accounting for 88% of the national total installed capacity of solar power generation. The cumulative installed capacity of solar power generation has exceeded that of wind power for the first time.
According to the Development Report, in 2018, under the influence of policies and market choices, the installation of new energy power generation continued to shift to areas with better consumption. As of the end of 2018, the cumulative installed capacity of wind power in the "Three North" region has decreased by 9 percentage points compared to the end of 2015; As of the end of 2018, the cumulative installed capacity of solar power in the "Three North" region decreased by 18 percentage points compared to the end of 2015.
As of the end of 2018, the installed capacity of new energy power generation in 13 provinces and regions, including Qinghai, Gansu, Ningxia, Hebei, and Xinjiang, accounted for over 20% of the total installed capacity of power supply in this province; The cumulative installed capacity of wind power in 7 provinces and regions, including Inner Mongolia, Xinjiang, Hebei, Gansu, Shandong, Shanxi, and Ningxia, exceeds 10 million kilowatts; The cumulative installed capacity of solar power generation in four provinces, including Shandong, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Anhui, exceeds 10 million kilowatts.
According to the Development Report, in 2018, China's new energy generation and proportion achieved a "double increase". In 2018, China's new energy power generation reached 543.5 billion kilowatt hours, a year-on-year increase of 29%, accounting for 7.8% of the country's total power generation, a year-on-year increase of 1.2 percentage points. The new energy generation capacity of the State Grid operating zone reached 439 billion kilowatt hours, accounting for 81% of the country. Among them, wind power generation reached 366 billion kilowatt hours, a year-on-year increase of 21%, accounting for 5.2% of the total power generation in the country. The wind power generation in the State Grid operating zone reached 283.6 billion kilowatt hours, accounting for 77% of the country; The solar power generation is 177.5 billion kilowatt hours, a year-on-year increase of 52%, accounting for 2.5% of the total power generation in China. The solar power generation in the State Grid operating zone is 155.4 billion kilowatt hours, accounting for 88% of the total power generation in China.
At the same time, the abandonment of electricity and the abandonment rate of new energy have achieved a "double reduction". In 2018, 26.8 billion kilowatt hours of new energy were abandoned in the State Grid operating zone, a year-on-year decrease of 35%. The abandonment rate was 5.8%, a year-on-year decrease of 5.2 percentage points, and the overall utilization rate of new energy reached 94.2%. Specifically, the company's operating area has abandoned 21.7 billion kilowatt hours of wind power, a year-on-year decrease of 37%, and the abandonment rate is 7.1%, a year-on-year decrease of 5.8 percentage points; The abandoned photovoltaic energy in the operating area reached 5.2 billion kilowatt hours, a year-on-year decrease of 23%, and the abandoned light rate was 3.2%, a year-on-year decrease of 3.0 percentage points. 22 provinces and regions basically do not abandon wind, and 24 provinces and regions basically do not abandon light; The wind abandonment rate in Liaoning, Heilongjiang, and Shanxi provinces has decreased to below 5%, while the light abandonment rate in Qinghai and Ningxia provinces has decreased to below 5%.
Regarding the consumption of new energy in key regions such as Gansu and Xinjiang, the Development Report reveals that in 2018, Gansu's new energy consumption reached 6.4 billion kilowatt hours, a year-on-year decrease of 42%, and the abandonment rate was 16.5%, a year-on-year decrease of 13.2 percentage points; In 2018, Xinjiang's new energy generated 12.8 billion kilowatt hours of electricity, a year-on-year decrease of 20%, and the electricity abandonment rate was 21.3%, a year-on-year decrease of 6.5 percentage points.
